Revered in traditional Chinese medicine, this flower is known for its stress resilience and antioxidant properties. Its delicate petals house enchanting pigments that effortlessly blend with mineral ions, breathing life into fibres through the art of dyeing. Sophora Japonica adorns fabrics since antiquity, unveiling luminous yellow hues and fragrant shades.
The garment begins with a dye bath of Sophora Japonica infused with mineral ions as the mordant. Continuous movement enhances the fabric's dye absorption, imparting a natural and rustic charm. After setting the Sophora Japonica dye, the garment is treated with indigo, creating a unique gradient pattern that blends the two colours. Careful attention is given to striking the right balance during the oxidation process to preserve the essence of the Sophora Japonica dye. Hand-guided distressing adds intentional marks, contributing to the overall vintage aesthetic. Finally, our BDL motif is stencil printed on the front, adding the final touch.
