Plover Cove Botanic Dye Shirt Level 1 - Amur Ecru
The Plover Cove Botanic Dye Shirt is a true testament to the boundless creativity and fearless expression of the Chinese immigrant workers from the early 20th century. Drawing inspiration from their iconic worker shirts, this garment effortlessly captures the essence of their indomitable spirit. In our dyeing process, we used amur cork, a versatile tree native to East Asia renowned for its medicinal properties and practical applications. In ancient China, it was highly valued for dyeing fabrics and preserving important documents like scriptures and account books. To achieve a light vintage ecru effect, the garment needs to be constantly moved by hand during the dyeing process using amur cork infused with mineral ions as the mordant. This dyeing technique imparts a natural and rustic charm, infusing the textiles with a vintage or aged aesthetic.
